Juneau Alaska: Eagles, Whales and Salmon

In July 2007 I took up my friends Jeff and Jennifer Mondragon's kindly offered hospitality and visited them for a week in their home near Juneau, Alaska. What other state has a capital city where you can swim with spawning salmon in a river downtown, see bald eagles feeding on salmon carcasses on the waterfront and watch in awe as humpback whales lunge feed a short boat ride from the city center?
